DeVetter Design Group worked with the White Bear Lake School District to create secure and welcoming entrance to Vadnais Heights Elementary School. The original school building had two separate entrances with the school office was midway between them. This made it impossible to monitor either entrance and gave visitors undeterred access to student areas. It also made it difficult for visitors and parents to find the main office.

DDG created a new secure main entrance that opens directly into the school office. A remote access lock controls passage from the office area into the student area. A new expanse of windows creates a more accessible and welcoming entrance while improving sight lines between the office and the bus drop-off. This project also improved the school’s image by articulating the plain face of the existing building with a new expanse of glass, bright colors, and clear signage.
