DeVetter Design Group worked with the New London-Spicer School District to design a theater and gymnasium addition at their secondary school, serving grades 6-12. The theater project includes a new 650-seat performance theater designed to accommodate theater, band, and choir performances. It will also serve as a large group meeting area for student assemblies and staff development. In addition, it will also be used for community events and professional productions.
Security measures were integrated into the design. One of the prominent features of this expansion is a large waiting area to accommodate students and parents before and after school. This space was developed as a learning commons with a “cascading stair” and will provide a collaborative learning environment and presentation space during school hours.
